When I confessed my fears to Pastor Doss, he said, “Let me tell you a story that took place about sixty miles from my home in Baghdad.” Pastor Doss told me the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, the three friends who were commanded to bow to the image of the Babylonian king but refused. . . . After reading the text, the pastor shared with me insights that I will remember for the rest of my life. He said, “Those three friends most likely prayed that God would deliver them from the fire, but God through His infinite wisdom decided to deliver them in the fire. Think about it. Because God decided to deliver them in the fire, they had the greatest worship experience of their lives. Right there in the fire, Jesus showed up, and they worshiped Him and walked with Him. |
